The Milk & Honey series was inspired from experiences derived from my two-year stay in the State of Israel. The tile of this series refers to the biblical description of the Promised Land in Jewish tradition, as described in Exodus chapter 3: "a land flowing with milk and honey."
Within Milk & Honey, I created portraits of artists and artisans set in settings I personally experienced in Israel and other Middle Eastern countries, such as Jordan and Egypt. Many of these settings included elements of Arab, Jewish, and Christian architecture, as well as picturesque environmental scenes and a liberal use of gold leaf. Consequently, this series communicates a strong spiritual feeling with each of the individual drawings.
